Why Is My Baby Crying?

So you’ve made it through nine months, giving birth and now you have a newborn at home. Newborns cry when they are hungry, have to burp, when they’re cold, and sometimes for no good reason. Most of the time, babies will tell you why they are crying by their body language. Learning to read your baby’s cues will save you a lot of aggravation. The two easiest cues to read are hunger cries and burp me cries.

When a newborn is hungry, they will often try rooting. Rooting means they will turn their head with their mouths open trying to find food. Also, if you offer a crying baby your finger and they suck hard on it, chances are your baby is hungry.

When newborns start crying and moving their body around a lot, especially their legs, and even turn red in the face, they probably have gas.

If you try feeding and burping and your baby is still crying, try changing their diaper. After that, wrap them up so they are nice and warm. Rocking them and keeping them close to your body will help. If your newborn is still crying, and you are getting frustrated, put your baby in it’s crib and walk away for a few minutes. Make sure you take a few minutes to calm yourself down before trying to figure out what’s wrong.  As long as your baby is safe, crying with or without you will not matter. The best mothers in the world have been driven a bit crazy and done harmful things to their children because of excessive crying.

If your baby is still crying, your baby might be sick or colicky. You should contact your doctor if your baby seems to be crying longer then usual.

Love it!! Thanks. Got a 4 week old. You know….just wanted to share about a book that has helped me. I don’t get money or anything like that for mentioning this book. Trust me. The book doesn’t even circulate anymore. It is just a life saver. It is a book about a pediatrican who practiced for 72 years!!! She is old time and is more “naturopathic” than anything. My hubby is a chiropractor and we do that natural way mostly unless an MD is absolutely necessary. Anyways……Loved the book and It (besides the good Lord) saved my sanity, my marriage…basically my everything. It’s called “Dr. Denmark said it”. Take care and I will probably be making some blogs myself. Hugs and kisses to all you wonderful women!!!!

I love this webpage! Its very helpful. I am still nursing my daughter who is turning two in a few months, & i would LOVE some tips on weaning. Thanks!

Very nice tips! I am mother of 5 months old baby and till last 2-3 weeks back it was a time that I was really having hard time getting my baby to stop crying. I could not figure out what to do and fortunately one of my friends happened to visit my house and she recommended me a product that she had seen on the website: http://www.BabyBoo.com, called the Cradle Me ™ supportive receiving blanket.

I bought one and tried it, and it worked. The Cradle Me had a swaddling straps inside, and I was able to put them tightly, but comfortably over my baby’s tummy, and he loved it. He liked the pressure on his stomach, maybe he is a really gassy baby, or coliccy or something, I’m not sure, but he is really happy now when he is swaddled into the Cradle Me ™.

I had really experienced what happens when baby start crying and we are not able to predict actually what is happening with baby but now I am feeling more comfortable and my baby is also too happy as I was able to found the perfect solution for my baby to stop crying.
